Welcome to Unidos En Arte, a portal into Latine visual art 🚪👁✨. My name is Harold Gutierrez and I'm a Salvadoran immigrant. My parents brought me as an infant in 1984, fleeing the civil war in El Salvador. We lived in Southern California and I spent my teens living in the border towns of San Diego, CA and Tijuana, BC. I was immersed in and influenced by music, art, and skateboarding culture on both sides of the border. This led me where I am today. In Los Angeles, CA with a 12 year career in the music business where I've had the opportunity to build unique digital experiences for some of the world's most influential musical artists. Music remains the most important element of the work that I do, but the album art comes in second. Visual art is at the center of my most memorable music moments, both personally and professionally. I don't play instruments or make visual art myself, but I'm thankful everyday for being able to work with art on a daily basis.
Quitting alcohol, the global pandemic, and uprisings against social injustices has made 2020 a year of deep reflection for me. I started to think about how to apply my expertise and interests to build something useful for the Latine community I'm a part of. Through the Black Lives Matter movement, I've learned about and supported Black history and Black visual artists digitally. These resources and directories allowed me to continue to grow and learn as a person, and are the inspiration for creating Unidos En Arte. My goal is to build a visual art guide of Latine visual artists for fans of art to easily learn about and support them. I hope you feel the same happiness I get from discovering art, or even better, I hope you hire these talented visual artists for your next project.

If you're a Latine visual artist, we are currently building resources and mentorship opportunities to help you develop your craft and build your business as an independent visual artist. More info will be released about that this summer.
Thank you to Jennifer Dahbura for her amazing work branding this project.
I dedicate this to my mom and dad ❤️
